Providing Everything You Need To Be Successful

We understand that some of the pieces of Revive and Thrive appear to be the same as treatment programs.  Based on the same names that we use for things, such as Group Therapy,  Family Therapy, or Employment Opportunities.

Let's address the differences to understand Revive and Thrive and the Key Differences.

REVIVE AND THRIVE

A 16 WEEK COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM

TO PROVIDE EVERY SECOND CHANCE AND OPPORTUNITY TO TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE

STEP 1

INTAKE ASSESMENT

We have a 30-day sobriety minimum to enroll in the program.  This is not a treatment or detox center.  Our goal is to build you a life that you don't need to escape from.  This new life is going to cost you, your old one.  But that is the point.

We gather as much information as possible in this session, we need to understand you and your goals, hopes, and dreams.  We also need to understand what you lost.  We cannot change anything that we cannot name.

STEP 2

INDIVIDUAL CASE PLAN

We develop a personalized plan that includes, employment matching (free of discrimination, full of understanding that will allow mastery of social/life skills, and second chances.) Set up a case manager, we do not expect you to do this alone.  Set up Group and Psychoeducational Workshops and Family Therapy.  All of these aspects are curated to the individual needs.

STEP 3

GROUP THERAPY & PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS

You meet your case manager and they set up the Group and Psychoeducational workshops.   Key Difference: This is not just for Peer Support, we are not discussing addiction stories or your rock. We are addressing real world, real time barriers of today. As described below. The subconscious mind is the most powerful force in the human body, we develop patterns and do things without understanding why we do them, how to stop and often don't recognize what we are doing is wrong.  Through our life's experiences from the time we are born, we develop these unconscious cognitions, when we have distorted automatic thought patterns we create damage to our own life unknowingly.  Some of these include Mind reading, Fortunetelling,   Catastrophizing, Overgeneralizing, Dichotomous thinking, Shoulds, Personalizing, Blaming Unfair comparisons, Regret orientation, What if?, Emotional reasoning, Inability to disconfirm, Judgment focus, Labeling, Discounting positives, Negative filtering etc. In Group we use real time experiences to track these automatic thoughts, bring them to the conscious mind and learn to challenge them to break them.  When we change the way we think we change the way we behave and the things that we do.  We use real world experiences to address our life skills.  Life skills in a controlled environment only go so far.  They are unpracticed, without real life "curve balls," stressors and there is nothing at risk if you get it wrong.  We address every aspect of being back in society as issues come up.  Such as discrimination, anticipated stigma, perceived stigma, lack of trust, authority issues, self-confidence, etc. By addressing these cognitions and learning to recognize and challenge the distortions, your perception of events, and how to handle them changes.  You are no longer stuck in a cycle based on unconscious thoughts fueling your decisions.

STEP 4

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

We match your skills, past experience or present goals to an employment position.  This is a temporary volunteer position.  We have already worked with the business to address the discriminatory thought process, and replaced those thoughts with compassion and understanding.  This employment piece, provides a current valid reference on your resume.  We increase self esteem, through productivity, gain self efficacy, you do belong and society is welcoming you back in.  We understand there will be stressors and triggers and the owner is willing to work on those things in real time with us.  This allows a practicum type run of employment, free of barriers because we address those barriers.  We expect things to come up, such as trust issues, authority issues, overwhelming feelings, and other cognitions.  We will address every single one of them as they arise.  We are aware that time spent in treatment facilities can create an institutionalization effect, when someone else is managing your schedule, routine and co regulating with you, helping you make decisions, for a period of over 4 months.  When this happens, we lost the ability to think and act independently.  When we get back to the real world, we no longer have confidence in our own decisions, the safety net is gone, we have all of this time and aren't sure what to do with it, how to manage it and no one is telling us what  to do, where to go, and when anymore.  This is entirely overwhelming.  This employment piece give you back control of your life and lets you work through these effects, in the real world with assistance, while we address the underlying causes.  This is effectlivly a practicum.  We also understand that the things that transpired through addiction and before do not immediately just go away and what you felt during that time is still lingering.  Things like being judged, rejected, discriminated against, stereo typed, anticipated stigma etc. We utilize this position to assist you in acquiring gainful employment.  Sometimes our volunteer position leads to gainful employment.  If you are underqualified for a position that they would hire you for, we work with the employer to get you those qualifications.  What do you gain from this? New stable healthy connections, friends, increased self esteem, increased mental health, routine, mastery at social and life skills, mastery at controlling negative thoughts, a current positive reference, a new narrative of I am looking for a job because I am in a temporary position and finally gainful employment.  You also get removal from the system and autonomy to stand on your own two feet and every skill to have a life you no longer need to escape from.

STEP 5

FAMILY SYSTEM THERAPY

Relationships all have two sides; no authentic or healthy relationship is one sided.  When we conduct Family Therapy, we are looking at both sides of the relationship.  When we squarely place blame on any singular side without understanding we fail to create an authentic relationship.  If we want to create change and have a different outcome, we need to address the underlying issues.  What is stopping this person from coming and talking to you, what pain are they hiding that they can't seek support from family, why are they afraid to be honest, is there reactivity, judgment, or shame?  Why didn't they feel heard or valued?  How can we change that going forward?  There are so many pieces that are conducted in Family Therapy. Amends is a great step, you look at all of the events that transpired, contemplate whom you've hurt and then reach out to make amends, take accountability and apologize.  The issue comes in when we break it down, amends from a singular perspective does not take into account the impact on another person.  When a person begins to cross lines, they also need to come to terms with their actions, so these things are rationalized away as a coping mechanism for self-preservation.  As we continue to cross lines we develop moral disintegration, a process of chipping away at our morals to accept the things we've done.  The amends comes from a different moral standard.  A person may say I'm really sorry I stole that $500 from you, in their mind, it was just $500, you have a job and while not okay, it wasn't a big deal, I was in bad place and it's just $500. The family on the other side, accepts the apology, is grateful that it was addressed and says thank you.  The family is afraid to address the impact, fearing a relapse because they've been down this path for.  Grateful for the apology, cautiously optimistic and untrusting.  They are thinking of the impact.  That $500 that was my car payment, my daughter's birthday money, I lost all trust in you that day . . . The unspoken, unaddressed pain is where accountability and healing live.  The impact the family faced.  That is exactly where we defeat the moral disintegration, the understanding and true accountability of the actions, that is where the healing of the family begins.  Once we address the underlying causes we are creating and fostering an authentic relationship. When we leave this part out, the family remains untrusting, unhealed and cautious of relapse, fearing what they say or do.  The person in turn feels like an outsider, without ever belonging. Belonging is a fundamental human need, so strong we put ourselves in dangerous positions just to have that need met.  When we remain an outsider in our life, we seek out the places we belong, leading directly into a relapse to be a part of something, to be understood and to belong.  We address all of the pieces to foster the authentic relationship, heal the past wounds and build a new path forward, with skills, understanding and compassion.
